Innovation through exchange: What we’re taking away from the IPRN meeting in Porto

How can international networks strengthen an agency’s innovative capacity? This was the key question for us at this year’s Annual General Meeting of the International Public Relations Network (IPRN), which took place in Porto and impressively demonstrated how valuable personal exchange is for the ongoing development of our work.

A presentation at Porto Business School focused on how technological innovations – from AI-powered media analysis through to automation in client communication – can be meaningfully integrated into everyday agency work. The aim is not only to work more efficiently, but above all to further enhance the quality and relevance of our services for clients.

The presentation of selected best cases from the network was particularly inspiring. They showed how creative communication solutions work in different markets and which approaches can also be adapted for our clients in Germany. The open exchange about successes, but also about challenges, was just as valuable as the concrete learnings.

At Porto Business School, there was also a panel discussion moderated by our Managing Director Tilo Timmermann on the economic and political upheavals brought about by the new US administration. The renowned economic strategist Domingos Jorge Rodrigues explained the geopolitical background to the looming “trade war”; the representatives from the agencies looked at its impact on the international economy, communication and the changing requirements for PR service providers. The findings from this discussion provided us with numerous impulses for our future strategic consultancy.

The meeting in Porto was therefore not only an international industry get-together, but a real source of inspiration for our day-to-day work at TDUB. The insights gained there help us to further develop our processes, test new ideas and offer our customers communication solutions that are not only creative, but also future-proof.

Last but not least, we also took home one of the coveted IPRN Awards. For our long-standing pro bono work for the NGO Start Somewhere, we won the award in the category “Reputation and/or Crisis Communication” .
