Remote work in Denmark

Pretty hyggelig: Workation in Bakkegaarden

It’s almost a tradition at TDUB: the annual workation in Denmark at the start of the year. Unfortunately, in 2025 “our” stately manufacturer’s villa in Rudkøbing on Langeland will no longer be rented out and we needed a suitable replacement. We eventually found it in the historic four-sided farmstead Bakkegaarden from 1604, built in a monastery style, in North Jutland – right up in the far north between the North Sea and the Limfjord. Large enough that everyone could have a double room for single occupancy, and still with enough space left over for small meetings and large get-togethers. Despite flexible travel arrangements for arrival and departure, most of the team were there for the entire week.

The relaxed atmosphere, the beautiful coastal scenery by the bird sanctuary and the incomparable hygge feeling made Denmark the perfect destination for us for a week in February for this year’s workation. We made intensive use of our time on site to further develop our internal structures, acquire new knowledge in a targeted way and work out new ideas for our customer projects in creative brainstorming sessions. Despite the productive work, there was still enough time for short breaks and walks in the fresh air.

Dinner was a culinary experience all over again every day. Working in pairs, we prepared fantastically tasty dishes in our large kitchen. Alongside typical Danish hot dogs, there was delicious mushroom risotto, udon noodles, a hearty Schupfnudel bake and our famous cheese spaetzle. Of course, dessert couldn’t be missing either! We rounded off the evenings in a relaxed way: sometimes with a discussion-filled round of “Hitster”, or with a game of table tennis, table football and darts. A very special highlight was our indoor pool area with a whirlpool and water slide, which provided plenty of fun and relaxation.

We look back on a lovely and sociable week in Denmark, from which we are returning with new inspiration and fresh North Sea air. One thing is certain for us: this workation was a complete success and won’t have been the last!

Here are a few impressions for you:
