Why some meetings now take place on the sofa at our place
Over the past few months, we’ve created something very special – a space that not only looks nice, but feels completely like us. We call it “The Hangout”. And that describes pretty well what it’s meant to be for us: a place to sit together, switch off, and gather ideas; a place for meetings, brainstorming sessions and shared lunches. In short: a room that’s exactly as flexible as our working day needs it to be. And that doesn’t just apply to us at TDUB, but to our entire office community.
The idea came straight from the team. We wanted to create a space that can do more than the classic conference room — a space where everyone enjoys spending time. So we took the project into our own hands — from the first ideas right through to the last plant. We screwed, drilled and debated (especially when it came to choosing the carpet, it took a lot of arguments). Every detail was deliberately selected and implemented together. That’s exactly what makes the Hangout so special to us, because it clearly bears our signature. OK, admittedly… the painting and electrical work was done by professionals for us.
What lovely things can be found in our Hangout?
A big, cosy sofa as the centrepiece. Perfect for relaxed brainstorming sessions, informal meetings, or simply a short break between two tasks. Rumour has it that the odd nap has been had there too. Flexibly movable tables with chairs provide space for workshops, structured discussions, longer project meetings, or relaxed lunch breaks. If you want to clear your head for a moment, grab the darts — a small playful break, a big boost for creativity. Brainstorming sessions can definitely be combined with a round of darts too. And because working with a bit of greenery is simply much nicer, lots of plants create a pleasant atmosphere and that feel-good factor you need. Pflanziska, Pflanz Josef and Farn Urlaub, and the lawn team are lovingly cared for and nurtured, and every now and then they even produce stylish offshoots — much to the delight of various team members.
Our hangout fits perfectly with what we understand by modern work: not rigidly and silently side by side, but flexible, open and lively together. It’s not about always getting faster, higher, further – but about creating the right spaces in which good ideas are simply allowed to emerge.
